Bargain Bytes: Early Bird specials at Vin Rouge. . .

. . . although, since Vin Rouge is French, maybe they call them something like "oiseau tôt" specials. At any rate, here's the deal, which is offered Tuesday-Thursday from 5:30-6:30pm, and Friday-Saturday from 5:30-6pm (that one's a half-hour window, so you'd better be a "oiseau vite" too):

Three courses, $20 prix-fixe

Four courses, $25 prix-fixe

And here's the menu:

soup du jour


mixed  greens salad

apple, walnuts, lardons, bleu cheese, Dijon vinaigrette


bibb lettuce salad

haricots verts, radish, Dijon vinaigrette


sautéed salmon

Dijon mustard crust, braised lentils


gratin de macaroni

bacon, gruyère 

(also available vegetarian)


hanger steak

bleu cheese, pommes frites


house-made sausage du jour


croque-madame

ham and gruyère cheese sandwich with 

sauce Mornay, fried egg and pommes frites


salade Niçoise

whole Albacore tuna, haricots verts, hard boiled egg,

tomato, olives, potato, mixed greens, Dijon vinaigrette


Apple Bread Pudding


Lemon Tart


Chocolate Mousse
