Censorship in Eastern Wake County?
Wed, 11/11/2009 - 00:34 — podmanI would like to know more about media control in Eastern Wake County. I posted to the Wendell Community Coalition Blog and those in control of the blog-site changed the address to Wendell-Alabama and eliminated my eligibility to post. I wrote a letter to the editor of the Eastern Wake news and got an email that said, "Sorry, your letter didn't make it into the paper." I'm beginning to think that if one doesn't agree with those in control of local media and exercises freedom of speech to say so, they who control the various media platforms simply ignore a letter, censor or delete a post or shut down a site so that members of the community have no opportunity to read an opposing opinion. Freedom of the press and freedom of speech are the basic building blocks of the United States of America's constitution. When access to the press or to any public platform is denied because those who control that media don't want someone's opinion to be heard, we enter the dark, totalitarian environment found in countries like Zimbabwe. Are some afraid of the freedom to express points of view that differ from their own? Is censorship alive in Eastern Wake County?
