Programming note: Duke sports on the radio

Mike Krzyzewski's radio show kicks off its eighth season tonight with a great anecdote from Louisville's Rick Pitino. Credit: CHUCK LIDDY

A few programming notes for Duke sports fans:

*Wednesday (tonight) at 7 p.m., Mike Krzyzewski will kick off the eighth season of his "Basketball and Beyond" Sirius XM radio show. Like the title suggests, Krzyrewski talks about hoops and other topics that interest him. Tonight's guests include Louisville coach Rick Pitino and Orioles manager Buck Showalter. The hyperlinks on their names contain preview sound bites. Check it out.

*Saturday, there's a bit of overlap between the mens basketball exhibition game against Western Washington (2 pm in Durham) and the football game in Tallahassee (3:30 p.m.). Sadly, I haven't mastered the physics of being in two places at once, but I will be in Tallahassee for the matchup between the two ACC divisional leaders. Locally, WKIX 102.9 FM in Raleigh will broadcast the entire hoops game and then join the football game in progress. Other affiliate of the Blue Devil Sports Network will play the football game in its entirety.

*The blog has been understandably football heavy in the past few weeks, but a few basketball links worth your attention in case you've missed them (the N&O has a big hoops preview section running Nov. 2, if you want to mark your calendars):

A quick and dirty primer on Duke's preseason goals

From ACC media day, Duke knows it has to be better defensively

Shane Battier (and Lebron James) were in town with the Heat to play the Bobcats. Battier talked before and after the game about winning both the NCAA and NBA titles and what Krzyzewski told him after the game.

I had the pleasure of meeting Rick Bonnell, who covers the Bobcats for the Charlotte Observer, last night. While in the Charlotte locker room, he saw a pretty cool scene with Krzyzewski and Gerald Henderson
