In case this is your first time reading The Dollar Diet blog, my family and I are on a quest to go the entire month of February without spending any money. No kidding. We'll pay the monthly bills, put gas in our cars to get to and from work and spend just $10 a week on milk and produce, but that's it. If it's discretionary, it's off limits. Caroline and I are hard at work prepping for Valentine's Day so I'll make this short and sweet.
Since we weren't going to break our Dollar Diet to buy Valentine's cards for her classmates, we got busy in the kitchen.
While a card or a piece of candy is nice, a homemade heart-shaped cookie is even better.
And we had all the ingredients on hand to make them.
Caroline mixed the dough; I cut and rolled; and she generously decorated with red sprinkles.
She'll be bringing in enough to treat the entire 7th grade, plus teachers.
Oh, and about those sprinkles. Purchased on clearance after Christmas!
