changing your mindset

To Muriel-

I have been the most successful in losing weight these past 15 months (75 lbs).  I call what I do the "Slowest Loser."  I started off by realizing that thin people are always complaining and watching and regreting what they have eaten.  I think in the back of my mind I always thought I would lose the weight and then just go back to eating what I wanted.  That just isn't so.  So, you start to watch what you eat.  You eat the successful meals that use to and still do make sense BUT you plan to lose only one pound a week.  So with 12 pounds to catch up start charting and planning on losing 12 pounds in 12 weeks.  Now this is where it gets good.  Chances are you will lose the weight in less then 12 weeks.  Put this down as a new bonus for yourself.   Keep losing officially just one pound a week.  When you do better keep putting it away as a bonus.  I did this for one year and technically I should have lost 52 pounds but I lost almost 70.  I did have slip ups but nothing major because losing 1 lb is not that hard.  Eat too much one day and watch it the next.   Guarantee success.

By the way I am now 69 years old.  I am so glad it is never too late.  Also, I will never get down to what is considered thin but you know what.  I don't care.  I now feel younger and have fun, yes I have fun, wearing normal larges and extra larges.  No more plus for me.  I have so much energy.  This year I have lowered the goal to 1/2 lb a week.

Thank you so much for your

Thank you so much for your encouraging words.  I never thought of it like that.  I am going to do just that...start thinking of the one pound per week goal, rather than my 5-9 pounds per week, I have been wanting to see happen.  You are truly an inspiration to myself and many others.  You are never too old to want to have fun and enjoy life.  I just wish "others" in my life understood that I was doing this for me and not anyone else!  I love the way I have felt since losing the 100 pounds I lost last year, but I am so ready to lose the rest NOW!!  I guess you could say that patience has never been a virtue of mine!  Once again, I would like to thank you so much for taking your time to talk to me.  I will plan to lose one pound this week and anything above that will be a bonus.  I hope you will continue to read our blogs so that you can witness the changes with me. You are truley an inspiration! Thank you and God Bless.
