Wall's visit can only help N.C. Central

Bookmark and Share

As much as it seems like everyone but John Wall would like John Wall to hurry up and pick a college already, I applaud him for visiting N.C. Central today.

I don't know if Wall is doing this as a favor to LeVelle Moton, Central's new coach and a longtime figure on the Triangle basketball scene, or if he's genuinely interested in the HBCU experience, but one of the reasons why N.C. State would be a good fit for Wall also applies to his mere visit to Central — his interest may perk up a few mid-level prospects who wouldn't otherwise even have considered going to Durham, and that's only going to help Central in the long run.

Not the level of competition, of course, and that's the real sticking point here: N.C. Central is still some years away from being admitted to the MEAC, and while that appears to be a foregone conclusion it is not guaranteed. In any case, it wouldn't happen while Wall is there and it's not like the MEAC can provide a real test for Wall anyway. (Although playing 25 games on the road would certainly help prepare him for the NBA lifestyle.)

Still, given how long Wall has dragged this process out, let's hope this is his last visit and a decision is coming soon.
