A special mid-week edition of the bowl predictions, with new rumor and speculation bringing the ACC picture into focus.

Specifically, the Gator Bowl is making a play for Clemson, which would bump North Carolina to the Meineke Bowl in Charlotte, where the Heels would play Pittsburgh. The ACC title game loser is likely headed to Nashville, whether it's Virginia Tech or Boston College

Additionally, there's a potential shake-up in Conference USA, where the MAC and C-USA are trying to put together a potential Ball State-Tulsa tussle in the GMAC Bowl, which would put East Carolina in the Liberty Bowl, win or lose Saturday.

Predictions subject to Troy-Ark. State game?

Strange that a Sun Belt game should make such a difference...

If Arkansas State should beat Troy, the teams will be co-champs and both with 7 wins.

Papa John's has a tie-in that takes a Sun Belt team with 7 wins if a SEC team isn't available (which it won't). Both Troy and the bowl game seem to be interested in each other and being co-champs frees the New Orleans Bowl to take Ark. State.

In turn, if Ark. State goes to N.O., Southern Miss and Memphis flip since Southern Miss has already played Ark. State.

Plus, N.C. State now needs a new home and likely goes to Detroit.

ECU should go to the Liberty anyway ...

after they hold Tulsa to a season low in point totals.
