Crosstown Traffic

Crosstown Traffic is all about getting around in the Triangle. Bad drivers and traffic hassles. Gas taxes and transportation politics. Public transit and other auto alternatives.

The blog is maintained by N&O transportation reporter Bruce Siceloff, whose Road Worrier column is published each Tuesday.

This traffic is two-way. What do you think? Leave a comment or email Bruce with questions, links, tips or gripes.

NCDOT starts work this week on pavement rehabilitation projects that will upgrade sections of Millbrook and Avent Ferry roads in Raleigh.

Rea Contracting Inc. has a $4 million contract to fix 2.1 miles of Avent Ferry, between Athens Drive and Western Boulevard, by mid-August.

Rea has a $3.8 million contract to fix 5.8 miles of Millbrook from Glenwood Avenue to Falls of Neuse Road, by mid-September.

No lanes will be closed during the weekday rush hours (6-9am and 4-7pm) on either project.

Bike Lanes?

I know a while back (4/24) the N&O mentioned how Avent Ferry would be getting bike lanes. Do we know if this repaving is just a temporary fix or will they incorporate bike lanes as well?

Avent Ferry

Avent Ferry has been a pothole nightmare for years. I'm not sure if I should be saying thank you or it's about dang time.
