I-40 will be reduced to one lane, both directions, tonight in West Raleigh

Bookmark and Share

Get ready for long traffic delays  in both directions on I-40 in West Raleigh and Cary tonight when many miles of  lanes are closed for paving work. It's part of a nearly finished project to widen I-40, DOT said.

Between 9 p.m. tonight and 6 a.m. Friday, two right lanes on I-40 East will be closed from Wade Avenue to U.S. 1.

Two left lanes on I-40 West will be closed from N.C. 54 to Harrison Avenue.

And the left lane on U.S. 1 North will be closed from Buck Jones Road to Jones Franklin Road.

The work is part of a $49 million project, to be finished this month, to widen I-40 between Wade and the Jones Franklin Road overpass.
