Here's proof that the Black Friday shopping frenzy is fast approaching.
Wal-Mart "leaked" its own ad early today and upped the ante even further by guaranteeing customers ultra-low "door-buster" prices on three hot items, including the Apple iPad 2.
If shoppers are in a Wal-Mart store and in line for these items between 10 and 11 on Thanksgiving night, Wal-Mart is promising customers these three deals:
- an Apple iPad 2 (16GB with wi-fi) for $399, plus get a $75 Wal-Mart gift card.
- an Emerson 32-inch 720p LCD television for $148.
- an LG Blu-ray player for $38.
“We know it’s frustrating for customers to shop on Black Friday and not get the items they want,” Duncan Mac Naughton, chief merchandising and marketing officer, said in a press release. “This year, for the first time ever, customers that shop during Walmart’s one-hour event will be guaranteed to have three of the most popular items under their tree at a great low price.”
If the items sell out before 11 p.m. local time, Wal-Mart will offer a "Guarantee Card" for the item. The only catch: The item must be paid for by midnight and registered online. Wal-Mart is promising to ship the product to the store where it is purchsed before Christmas.
Take note: Wal-Mart -- along with a lot of other retailers -- are using the Black Friday term loosely. The traditional kick-off to holiday shopping is encrouching on the holiday itself.
