Upcoming coupon class offers lots of perks

Registration for my Saturday, June 16, coupon workshop, which was previously limited to N&O subsribers, is now open to everyone.

Not only will you learn how to save 50 percent or more on your grocery bill, but you'll also leave with a reusable shopping tote filled with freebies, including a 2012 Attractions coupon book for each class member.

After class, you'll have the option of meeting at Bruegger's to swap coupons with me and other class members.

Here are all the details:

The class will run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 at the Halle Cultural Arts Center, 237 N. Salem St., Apex, 27502. The doors will open at 9:30 a.m.

The half-day session will include information on:

  • finding, organizing and using coupons for the items you already buy.
  • matching your coupons with the weekly grocery ads to maximize your savings.
  • tips on using digital coupons to your advantage.
  • the ins and outs of local grocery and drugstore policies and rebate programs.
  • meal planning and other frugal-living tips.

The $20 fee, which you should easily recoup in your first shopping trip, also includes free parking, a free breakfast, a class handout and your goodie bag.

We'll have a drawing for prizes, which include grocery gift cards, movie passes, restaurant freebies, cookbooks, children's books and more.

Bring a donation to the Food Bank of Eastern and Central North Carolina and get a second chance to win.

If you need coupon organizer supplies, Apex resident Mindy Weschler will be on hand selling her CouponPro binders, do-it-yourself kits, dividers, extra pages and wallets.

Weschler, a mom turned entrepreneur, took her passion for coupons to the next level and turned it into a money-making venture. You can check out her website HERE. Prices range from $50 for a fully loaded 3-inch CouponPro binder to $5 for a set of 10 coupon pages (tax included). At the class, she will accept cash, checks and credit cards.

After class, you'll have the option to join me at Bruegger's, which is located nearby at 760 W. Williams St., in the Haddon Hall shopping center. I'll be available to swap coupons and chat over lunch.  The owner has generously offered up a few tables for us. Lunch is on your own but I hope many of you will join me.

To register for the class, go to the N&O ZONE page.

upcoming coupon clas

Amy, I am so looking forward to your class.  This will be my second time, (slow learner ) haha.  Seriously, besides all the information on couponing, the freebies alone are well worth the price of the class !  The side trip to Brueggers for a coupon swap sounds like fun and I do plan on attending that as well..
