I've been back a few times
Fri, 11/04/2011 - 20:50 — cbmullsI've been back a few times and did well on items they had. It was really something to arrive at 6:55 on Wed. and seeing that Wolfgang Puck shelf was EMPTY. Went for the Smart Balance milk and NONE to be found. Since then No Wolfgang but was able to get the milk at each visit. Freezer now has plenty of milk to last us for awhile. I've done well at the 3 visits I have made..
Had a GREAT TIME! ALL THREE DAYS SO FAR!
Fri, 11/04/2011 - 17:25 — couponnanaFound everything I was looking for. First day, I was in the store before 7 am. Overall savings for the three days: 85%! Savings would have been more; but, I used the significant savings from items such as Smart Balance milk and sale, coupons, and OYNO catalinas from Blue Diamond almond products to help pay for the more pricier items (even with coupons and super doubles) such as Tom's of Maine products; Similasan Homeopathics (great coupons this time); Smart Balance peanut butter (stocking up for the projected peanut butter problem); etc.
Amy, thanks for all you do - IT REALLY HELPS A LOT!!!
Love Super doubles!
Fri, 11/04/2011 - 14:26 — northraleighI hope to make it there next week.

Cashier Missed Some Coupons
Fri, 11/04/2011 - 13:33 — bgcorbinMy $1.25 for Jello pudding, etc. wasn't on the list and they only gave me $.55 twice for the $1.00 Nivea coupon. In addition, I had 18 coupons and only 16 were doubled. I wish I had written a list of coupons and their values.

Fri, 11/04/2011 - 13:27 — aigonzalezIm still learning but dont think I did too bad. Spent $25 and got.
5- smart balance meals since I dont cook often.
1- Bagle fulls again dont cook.

3- little things of had sanitizer
1- Dryer Bounce dryer bar.
1-Pack of bateries
1- small dawn hand soap.
1- One litter of coke.

I used paper coupons and digital. I had a nice woman point out the clarance cart of toothpaste to me. Instead of picking up a thing of toothpaste for 2.99 I found the same kind for 1.25 with my $1.00 off that doubled I ended up getting it for free.
I was bumbed that I didnt have the Smart Balance coupons that would get my milk for free. I then had a nice lady stop me and give me her extra Smart Balance coupons.
Pretty good trip.
HONEY NUT CHEX AND PROGRESSO SOUP
Fri, 11/04/2011 - 13:19 — JASTROUD16Some deals I found I thought were pretty good Honey Nut Chex cereal at Harris Teeter and Progresso Soup at Lowes Foods. If you don't load the electronic coupons onto your shopper cards at each store....you definitely should.
Harris Teeter had an electronic coupon for $1.00/2 Chex cereals. Harris Teeter has them on sale for $2.50 and there was a shelf tag that said if you buy 2 you get 1 free. With the VIC savings...it was $7.50 for 4. Then I used two $1.00/2 manufacturers paper coupons which doubled making it $3.50 for 4. Then the $1.00 electronic coupon came off making them $2.50 for 4....or 63 cents each.
Lowes Foods also has the Progresso soups on sale for 4/$5.00. There was an electronic coupon for $2.00 off 8 cans. I purchased 8 cans....used 2 of the $1.00/4 manufacturers paper coupons and then got the $2.00 electronic coupon off. Although the manufacturers coupon did not double....the soup being on sale help to make them come out to 75 cents per can. Great deal stacking with the electronic coupon without any doubling.
Love Super Doubles!
Fri, 11/04/2011 - 09:25 — dnet77Couponing has saved my family so much money, thank you for posting and sharing the deals. I have been racking up during SD at HT, just love it!

Super Doubles missed opportunity
Fri, 11/04/2011 - 08:11 — ivnak8Just my luck...shelf cleared before I had a chance to use my coupon.

Final bill $32.78.What really made me feel good is when I got home I gave away all my freebies to the seniors in my neighborhood. I love seeing their faces when I show them my receipt.

Thu, 11/03/2011 - 22:34 — dalmasHave been two days now, and used my max of 20 coupons both days. Forgot all about the SavingStar offers, but realized today when I went to load new ones that the Fleischmann's yeast I bought with a coupon will also yield a SavingStar credit. :-)
Bought 6 pks of Vanity Fair napkins today (100 ct on sale for $2.50), and used three $1.25 off 2 coupons, but didn't realize until later that they did not double. Nor did the cashier tell me they weren't doubling, so I went to CS intending to return them because they weren't a low enough price for me without the coupons doubling. They gave me cash back - nice surprise! I am very thankful for how much HT is helping me to stretch the grocery dollars!

Thu, 11/03/2011 - 19:56 — LYNBOWI did ok but by the time I got there they were out of alot of stuff! I live in Cary and it is over crowded here w/ lots of couponers!
Not too shabby!
Thu, 11/03/2011 - 18:52 — Jessica82799I did some regular shopping in addition to my couponing, but I got about $70 worth of stuff for $30.

Thu, 11/03/2011 - 18:43 — prescott2spent $28.69, saved $70.12 = 71% savings. Not extreme but works for me. Most of my order was in the laundry aisle- an expensive place to shop. Plus only 29 cents each for 3 full size bags of Krunchers, and 2 Qts Gold Peak Ice Teas. A nice little treat for all that clipping. Will return today to take advantage of my senior discount too.
Love your idea of combining
Thu, 11/03/2011 - 19:17 — AmyDunn (author)Love your idea of combining Super Doubles with your senior discount....Just a couple more years and I'll be using that strategy. Every little bit helps!
Super doubles
Thu, 11/03/2011 - 17:19 — audreyacresI like to go for the higher priced items like the Wonderful pistachios which are normally 5.99. 3.99 is much better. 4.69 Splenda for 2.69 is a good deal and 3.99 Nutella for 1.99 is very good. In all I spent $57.75 and saved $40.55 with my coupons. I think I did very well.
super doubles
Thu, 11/03/2011 - 17:20 — cmmcleanI bought items totaling $29.48, and with coupons totaling $19 doubled, I spent $10.48 cash. For this amount I bought:
3 Jello puddings
3 Slow Kettle soups from Campbells
5 large packs gum
2 4pk Ocean Spray Sparkling Juice(bogo + a doubled coupon)
2 cans Carnation milk
1 Country Crock Spread
The County Crock and one of the gums was free. I just found out some HTs have different sales price and/or items, so I will have to check out some of the other HTs in the area. Pretty good considering I only had $20 to spend!
Pretty much a bust :(
Thu, 11/03/2011 - 16:33 — erika483I tried the HT in Apex this afternoon and unfortunately most everything I wanted was out of stock. I only managed to get 1- 8th Continent Soy milk, 1- Wholly Guacamole, 4- Blue Diamond Almond cans, 3- travel size Neutrogeena hand creams, 2 - Dawn and then 2 - Edy's half fat ice creams to make up for the lack of success (BOGO). I spent $10.89, saved 32.93 and got a $4 OYNO catalina.
I guess I shouldn't complain though since due to a coupon error in my favor, if you take off the $7 of ice cream and the $4 OYNO they actually paid me to buy everything else :)
Spent $12.27 saved $36.37
Thu, 11/03/2011 - 15:20 — chanssWould have gotten more but a lot of the items I had coupons for were out. I got 5 cans of Campbells Select Harvest soup (had a $1 off 3 and $1 off 2), carnation milk (also had the ZVR e-vic), Coffee Mate (also had a ZVR) Coffee Mate Natural, 3 boxes of jello, Activia 4 pack, 4lb sugar, tic tacs, 2 1-lb boxes of dark brown sugar, floss. Also 1 jar of molasses (on sale -ok price), and had coupons for karo syrup and welch's grape jelly (not on sale, but need the items).
Thanks Amy for all your posts!
This is why...
Thu, 11/03/2011 - 14:46 — fbogusOverheard at the Leesville HT this afternoon (Thursday): Two women complaing how they hate those extreme couponers, how awful they are, and how they give couponers a bad name. This is right after one of them finished bragging about how she "already" scored 9 free bottles of dish soap.
Maybe this is why I can't find many of the items I'm looking for and I had to spend $80 on 90-something dollars worth of groceries. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
Hey fbogus.....so sorry you
Thu, 11/03/2011 - 19:23 — AmyDunn (author)Hey fbogus.....so sorry you didn't have much luck finding SD deals....I always hope our fellow couponers will shop within the rules but I guess there will always be scofflaws. Sigh.
Proud of my bargains!
Thu, 11/03/2011 - 12:04 — joys07I purchased: 4 Martha White Muffin mixes, 2 cans of Campbell's Select Harvest soup, 1 pkg. Whonu cookies, 1 pkg. Chips Ahoy cookies, 1 pkg. Pedigree Good Bites, 1 pkg. Rachael Ray Just 6 dog treats, 1/2 gallon Smart Balance Milk, 1 Bestlife butter spread and only paid $2.59! Of course this included my $4 coupon from a couple of weeks ago from Blue Diamonds.
Thanks so much for your list of bargains. I read you everyday to get the best of the best bargains!

It's a good thing I looked at my receipt!
Thu, 11/03/2011 - 10:47 — cjkoethcI did pretty well, spending $23 for $48 worth of groceries.
Here were some of the highlights of my trip:
Also, this exercise was good for me because I noticed a mistake on my receipt with one of my toothpaste purchases ringing up for $4.29. It was probably on the shelf in the wrong spot. I'll return it next time I head back to Harris Teeter. So reviewing my receipt in detail saved me money as well. I probably wouldn't have noticed!
Thanks Amy!

Wed, 11/02/2011 - 21:41 — homeschoolmamaSo, I get the biggest kick out of using a great coupon, like 3 of the $1 off Wolfgang Puck pasta sauce coupons, which doubled, making it free, and then Harris Teeter gives me a $1.50 catalina off of my next order. Umm, that, it my book, is awesome! I'm sort of new still to this couponing thing, and it is so fun!
Thanks for this great blog, Amy!

Oh well....will try another store next trip! Happy couponing everyone!

Wed, 11/02/2011 - 08:56 — sweetpotatogirlI just enjoyed getting a gallon of free Smart Balance milk!
Success!
Wed, 11/02/2011 - 08:52 — sarah8684Spent $5.39, saved $75.06, and then got $4.75 printed off in coupons off next order ($4.00 from Blue Almond and 75 cents from Wolfgang Puck), so a grand total of 64 cents. I should have separated my Blue Diamonds into another transaction for tomorrow so I could have gotten $8.00 back total - whoops. But I really wanted them, so it's worth it. Gotta stick to this diet after all. :) Got 3 Smart Balance milks, 4 Blue Diamond Nut Thins, 4 Blue Diamond almonds, 1 Febreeze air effects, 1 Febreeze Set & Refresh, 1 Carpet Fresh (actually on sale for 99 cents so didn't need to double), 3 Hidden Valley Farmhouse, 1 Bic pens, 2 Bumble Bee light tuna packs, 1 Crest, 2 Pure Protein bars (they're secretly on sale for 67 cents so the coupons didn't even need to double), 4 jellos, 2 jello puddings, and 1 Wolfgang puck sauce.
The Blue Diamond almond deal
Wed, 11/02/2011 - 08:37 — sprchkThe Blue Diamond almond deal worked perfectly! Thanks for posting, Amy.
I saved over $75. Spent less than $20 and got a $4 coupon to use on my shop tomorrow!
One deal I didn't see on your list: Welch's Essentials juice = 29 cents! Sale price $3.29. There is a $1 ZVR e-vic coupon and $1 off one Welch's juice from Sept 25's inserts. I think the same deal would also work for Light Welch's.
