Shopping at thrift stores is one of my favorite ways to save money so I was super excited to hear about several new second-hand stores in the Triangle.
*Thursday was opening day for a new Goodwill store in Holly Springs at 101 Matthews Drive in the Lake Commons Shopping Center. It's the 32nd store operated by Goodwill Industries of Eastern North Carolina.
*On Saturday, Oct. 1, the Dorcas Ministries Thrift Shop in Cary will open in a new much-larger location at the Cary Plaza, 187 High House Road. A brand-new Habitat for Humanity of Wake County ReStore will open the same day in the same shopping center.
The two stores are having a joint grand-opening celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with entertainment and food.
*Goodwill is scheduled to open another store, this one in Garner near the intersection of Interstate 40 and state Highway 42, in late October.
I'm attracted to thrift stores by their bargain prices, of course. But I also love the idea that I'm giving new life to someone else's discards and voting with my pocketbook against all that Styrofoam and plastic in which manufacturers think they need to encase their goods.
