Be prepared to do a lot of clipping this Sunday.

Five coupon inserts will be in the N&O: a Smart Source, a Red Plum, the P&G Brandsaver, a General Mills and a Pepsico Moments to Save.

Some good news for debit card users

The morning after Bank of America announced it will start charging customers a monthly fee to use their debit cards, here's some good news for fee-weary consumers.

Coastal Federal Credit Union, which operates 15 branches in the Triangle, said today it's going to pay its "Go Green" checking customers even higher dividends for frequent use of their debit cards.

Lowes Foods opens new stores aimed at price-conscious customers

Lowes Foods is opening new grocery stores across the state with a new look and a new name: Just $ave.

As the name indicates, the stores are aimed at folks looking for bargain prices. Lowes Foods is referring to Just $ave as its "frugal cousin."

Two Just $ave stores opened today, one in Roxboro and another in Thomasville. A sixth Just $ave opens in Asheboro next week, with tentative plans for more.

Ground beef from Food Lion involved in recall

Packages of ground beef sold in Food Lion supermarkets in North Carolina are part of a recall announced today by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Check your freezers for Butcher's Beef Brand prepackaged 3-pound tubes of ground beef with a 73/27 lean-to-fat ratio.

Deal Alert: CVS wants to give you $2

If you're a CVS shopper, be sure to take advantage of its generous offer to give you $2.

Wednesday deals (Sept. 28-Oct. 4)

With the right coupons, you can snare FREE hot sauce, dried fruits and barbecue sauce at Harris Teeter this week, along with at least 10 other steal-of-a-deal items, including 15-cent ice cream topping and 75-cent cans of Campbell's Select Harvest soups.

At Lowes Foods, chicken breasts are just $1.88 per pound, potatoes are $2 for a 5-pound bag and carrots are just 88 cents for a 2-pound bag. And with the correct combination of paper and digital coupons, you can score great deals on General Mills cereals and Pillsbury refrigerated biscuits.

If you're a coffee lover, Thursday is your day.

It's National Coffee Day and Krispy Kreme shops in the Triangle and throughout the country are celebrating by giving everyone a free cup of coffee.

Stop in or drive through and get a FREE 12 oz. cup of House Blend from the company's new Signature Coffee Blends. No strings attached.

EXPIRED: Free ice cream today for a good cause

Cold Stone Creamery shops will be giving away free 3 oz. samples of its Sprinkled with Wishes Creation today to help benefit the Make A Wish Foundation.

The event is from 5 to 8 p.m. at locations throughout the Triangle.

This is the 10th year Cold Stone has hosted its World's Largest Ice Cream Social.

(In case you're wondering, a Sprinkled with Wishes Creation is a combo of  Sweet Cream ice cream, brownie, rainbow sprinkles and fudge.)

While you're sampling, Cold Stone hopes you will consider making a donation to the Make A Wish charity. Shops will be accepting donations Tuesday night and for the rest of September.
