It's a big week for couponers -- with competing coupon events at Lowes Foods and Harris Teeter -- so we thought we should celebrate with a giveaway.
I'll be giving away a $25 gift card to one lucky reader. And the winner will get to choose whether the card is to Harris Teeter or Lowes Foods.
So don't be shy. Post your Super Doubles stories in the comments section below.
Did you go to both Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods? Or did you pick one store over the other?
How many coupons did you use? How much did you spend? How much did you save?
Share your totals, any unadvertised deals you uncovered or even a funny story that happened at the register.
Got a gripe? You can share that too.
Enter before midnight on the last day of Super Doubles, Tuesday, Nov. 6. I'll post the winner Wednesday morning, Nov. 7
Happy shopping and happy commenting.

Super Doubles
Thu, 11/01/2012 - 08:37 — mandmAnother great Super Doubles shopping trip! We stocked up on some stuff we needed and then got a few extras to add to a hurricane care package that is being sent to those who need it up north. Coupon events are a great time to stock up on items to donate!
Super Doubles
Thu, 11/01/2012 - 08:32 — ggadamsI go to Lowes because it is closer to my home, however, Harris Teeter has better prices.
mmmmm ... groceries with a gift card!
Thu, 11/01/2012 - 06:55 — dalmasWent to HT Wed a.m. and did not find Febreeze noticeables nor small size Wholly Guac, but everything else that was on my list. None of my ZVRs came off, which took ~30 minutes to get refunded at CS, but at least they were cheerful about it. Going back today with a short list. Not sure if I'll make a trip to LF; didn't see much to get excited about that I would purchase. My favorite deal was the Smithfield ground pork; I needed to buy that anyway and FREE was a lovely price. THANKS so much for helping us to save!
harris teeter and lowes
Thu, 11/01/2012 - 03:09 — hklinei prefer harris teeter, feel that lowes has higher prices, however, i look at the ads and my emails from both.

fyi, every mon, they offer a large pizza, w/ as many toppings, made to order, as you like for only 7.99 ? great buy if you like pizza....
i have learned that w/ the e vics, they are for you only, i have learned to hold on to my evics b/c they are not the same as everyone else. i have gotten some freebies and coffee really cheap.....i did not bring in the email and the mgr did not know abt them....
Harris Teeter
Wed, 10/31/2012 - 23:04 — claboughI shopped at the Harris Teeter at Durant and Falls this morning. I arrived at 6 am and the store was out of many of the free spices and the Sauve Lotion. Other than that, I got all the deals I came for, plus a few! I spent $32.00. Before coupons and sales, the total was around $90. I didn't try Lowes, I do not live close to one.
Lowes was great today
Wed, 10/31/2012 - 22:17 — noodlewMaybe some of the usual HT shoppers don't have the convenience of a Lowes just a mile away, but I did well there.
Will go to HT tomorrow. Too bad we have take so many of our q's out of our binders tonight (the ones that expire 10/31).
Disappointing
Wed, 10/31/2012 - 21:55 — misty0410went to HT at Leesville at 10am to find no go for the items I wanted :(
Hey folks, I'm posting this
Wed, 10/31/2012 - 21:17 — AmyDunn (author)Hey folks, I'm posting this comment on behalf of Karen R., a reader who was having some tech trouble with our comments section.
I shopped at Stonehenge Market this morning and most of the deals were there but they were going fast. As usual the store personal were very pleasant and helpful. Thank you Harris Teeter!!
went to both bright and early
Wed, 10/31/2012 - 21:01 — mothar1Got to Lowes at 6:30, only 1 other car there! Got 2 SB milk, 2 Kit and Kaboodle cat food (b1g1), 2 Dreamfields, 2 Dole juice, 3 Equal, 2 Cascade, 4 Buddig beef, 2 Beneful treats, 2 Maruchan, 1 Campbells skillet, 2 Celestial teas (bought coupons on ebay). 4 Jello pudding treats, 1 full prized Bigelow tea (yikes). Paid 31, saved 72. It was a little scary because none of the sale items were marked so early but I decided to trust Centsible Saver!
Then to Harris Teeter, spent 10, saved 83. Got 5 Ragu, 1 Dawn, 1 Febreeze car, 2 V8 Fusion, 2 Werthers candy, 1 Vans waffles, 2 Baileys, 1 Lipton soup, 2 Purina Healthy cat chow, 2 Smithfield ham, 1 Olay face wash, 2 Nestle's Ultimates, 3 Waggin Train dog treats (worried about safety now though), 5 cans HT cat food.
Everything at both stores that I wanted was in stock, and cashier's were fantastic at both stores, very happy, thank you so much Amy.
Super Doubles YAH!
Wed, 10/31/2012 - 17:30 — momma2twoI love Harris Teeter. They have the best customer service and I love these promotions. I left work a little early today (2pm) so I could get some of the deals. I saved $46.59 and OOP $16.25. I used 12 coupons and got 4 rainchecks for things that were already gone. I will make at least one more trip to try to get a few more deals. I may hit up Lowes later this week.

Wed, 10/31/2012 - 17:16 — babsncI went to H-T at 7:30. I am not sure of the before coupon total, but after 20 coupons, total was only $2.16! I got 2 ham steaks, cheese, milk, Truvia, etc. No guac, Suave lotion or Febreeze Noticables, but most of the other "freebies" were available. I hit Lowe's at noon and only redeemed about 10 coupons for a total of $2.22. This included 3 Reach toothbrushes, 2 boxes pasta, 8 Yakisoba (great to donate), etc.

Wed, 10/31/2012 - 14:54 — laura_koldI stopped by HT this afternoon. It was mostly a quick trip to pick up strawberries (on sale) and Prego for tonight's dinner, but I did buy the Secret you listed and the sample size Neutrogena facial soap you've advertised previously (regular price $1.50, free after a doubled $1/Neutrogena coupon), My HT had plenty of both in stock.
HT super doubles
Wed, 10/31/2012 - 14:51 — coreycatHT in Olde Raleigh already out of Yakisoba and Nissan Big Cups so that was disappointing. Bought large size Dawn Hand Renewal, Barilla microwave meal, Tabasco sauce and 8 oclock coffee beans for total of $3.83. I'll go back tomorrow for more fun. Thanks Amy for your column.
Super Doubles
Wed, 10/31/2012 - 14:01 — dpharveyI don't know if I'll be able to get to this one or not. Looks like lots of great deals, but with my son starting daycare this week and my starting a new job on Monday time is more precious than couponing at the moment. If I do manage to make it I'll probably try to hit HT -- getting either the McCormick cinnamon or parsley flakes free would be nice!

best deal was bacon
Wed, 10/31/2012 - 11:35 — fair2middlingThe Plaza West (Hillsborough St. and Western Blvd) HT was stocked with everything I looked for, although that wasn't a whole lot. Also, ZVR wasn't working for me, so I'll try to take my receipt back and get a refund for that.
I got a lot of meat deals due to yellow manager coupons and clearance deals. My best was Oscar Myer bacon, which is BOGO (half price), and they had $2 off yellow coupons on them, so I got them for about $1. Sorry, I got all they had, but I just wanted to share... it pays to look for other deals besides coupon stuff.

Thank You!
Wed, 10/31/2012 - 09:01 — nic222Thank you SO much Amy for all of your hard work and time to post the best deals and thank you Harris Teeter! My store was well stocked this morning and I was able to get everything on my list -- favorite surprise deal was the Starbucks Coffee. My ZVR's did not come off at the register but customer service gave me the credit. I spent $10.02 and saved $77.00. Lowe's Food is closer to my husband's work so he's helping out with picking up the Smart Balance milk. Team work is the best!

Wed, 10/31/2012 - 08:37 — abcd3569I chose the North Ridge Harris Teeter this morning and was extremely disappointed. Most every item was already gone. The shelves were picked clean. It's hard to get there before 8am so I may have to rethink these Doubles . I may try Lowe's food this afternoon and see if it's any better stocked.
