Following up on its wildly successful summer drink cup promotion, Kangaroo convenience stores are offering customers a way to get discounts on candy and snacks via their cellphones.
Text ROOCUP (in all caps) to 67777 to get deal invitations texted to you.
Just show the text message to the cashier to get your deal.
While you're in their convenience stores, the folks at Kangaroo are also hoping you'll donate your spare change to their Salute Our Troops Fundraising campaign. So far this summer, $1.35 million has been raised for the USO, USO of North Carolina, Wounded Warrior Project and state-based military support organizations. Kangaroo will continue to collect donations through Labor Day.
I signed up to get the texts over the weekend. I figured I might as well since I stop in a Kangaroo just about every day to get a free diet soda in my refillable cup on my way to work. Best $6.99 I've spent all summer, I think.

No deals texted to me yet, but I did get an immediate return text letting me know I'd be getting weekly messages about deals and special promotions.
I guess it would be too much to expect a deal on gas.....A frugal girl can dream though.
