It is official!

For the first time ever, Lowes Foods will host a Super Doubles coupon promotion this week, starting Wednesday.

Lowes Foods spokeswoman Lisa Selip cited the competitive nature of the grocery business as one of the main reasons for offering the promo, which will run a full week at all Lowes Foods stores.

Coupons up to $1.98 in face value will be doubled. No more than 20 coupons may be doubled each day of the promo, which will last through Tuesday, Feb. 14.

"The market's very competitive; it's something we've not done before and it's certainly good for our customers," Selip said.

While Lowes Foods has never done a Super Doubles promotion, it has offered triple-coupon promotions, though not in "a long time," Selip said.

Competitor Harris Teeter, however, has been running Super Doubles or Triples promotions for several years now -- about one every five to six weeks.

Selip said Lowes Foods would take a wait-and-see approach before committing to a regular schedule of Super Doubles promotions.

"I have no idea until we find out how it goes," Selip said. "We've never done it so we really don't know what to expect."

Lowes Foods issued a coupon policy just for the Super Doubles event. It's similar to the rules governing its regular double-coupon policy with one major exception: Only three identical coupons can be used in a single shopping trip.

Under regular circumstances, Lowes Foods will double up to four idential coupons in a single shopping order.

(I've included the entire policy at the bottom of this post.)

So it's time to start clipping, filing and planning your shopping trips to Lowes.

Check back later for a list of good deals. And please feel free to post any deals you spot in advance.

On top of this big news, there are rumblings of a Super Doubles promotion at Harris Teeter the following week, starting Feb. 15. No confirmation on that yet, but I'll keep you posted.

As I am a 'new' couponer

As I am a 'new' couponer (having gone to your Seminar last Sat.), I really appreciate all the 'laborious' work you do for us. I'll really take your 'tips' to heart now...shop EARLY in the day...because several of the coupons that I especially wanted already had been cleared out from the shelves. It got to be kind of (bitter) funny after a while!! At least I'm learning the 'tricks of the trade'!!

Lowes Foods

Thanks for the Heads Up on Super Doubles at Lowes Foods starting on Wednesday.  This info is much appreciated.  I do appreciate all the work you put into your Centsible Savings column.  lmg
