Here's what 55 cents can buy

I hit Harris Teeter early to shop the first day of Super Doubles armed with a detailed list, a fully loaded coupon binder and a back-up plan.

Luckily, the shelves were fully stocked and I walked out with a couple bags bulging with groceries and change back from a $1 bill.

Total before coupons and vic savings: $60.16.

Total paid: 55 cents.

Here's what I bought:

  • 3 Smart Balance half-gallons of milk
  • 2 Dawn dish liquids
  • 2 Blue Diamond Almonds
  • 2 Blue Diamond Nut-Thins
  • 1 Wholly Guacamole
  • 2 Crisco Oils
  • 3 Aveeno lotions
  • 1 Nuetrogena Hand Cream
  • 2 cans Swanson broth
  • 1 BestLife Buttery Spread
  • 1 Febreeze Set & Refresh
  • 1 Febreeze Air Effects
  • 1 Sara Lee pound cake

In addition to my paper coupons, I had digital e-vic coupons for one Dawn and both Febreeze products. I also had a raincheck on the bottles of Crisco oil, which made them just 27 cents each after Super Doubles.

Then I "paid" with a $4 OYNO coupon I earned last week. That left me with 55 cents of tax to pay. Even better, the register spit out another $4 coupon for me to spend on a future order.

You might be wondering how in the world I'm going to feed my family on this grocery order. Obviously not.

Since our pantry and freezer are pretty well-stocked, I have the luxury of taking the week off from a full-blown shopping trip.

But I will be heading back out later this week to pick up the great chicken and produce deals at Aldi. And if I have time, I'll return to Harris Teeter to snare a few more Super Doubles deals.

Had a GREAT TIME! ALL THREE DAYS SO FAR!

I have shopped all 3 days so far - used multiple savings techniques including Senior Day Discount.

Found everything I was looking for.  First day, I was in the store before 7 am.  Overall savings for the three days:  85%!  Savings would have been more; but, I used the significant savings from items such as Smart Balance milk and sale, coupons, and OYNO catalinas from Blue Diamond almond products to help pay for the more pricier items (even with coupons and super doubles) such as Tom's of Maine products; Similasan Homeopathics (great coupons this time); Smart Balance peanut butter (stocking up for the projected peanut butter problem); etc.

Amy, thanks for all you do - IT REALLY HELPS A LOT!!!

Aveeno size?

What size Aveeno were you able to find to get with the coupons? It says no trial size or 2.5 oz sizes on the coupon.

Thanks!

I used the newer Aveeno

I used the newer Aveeno coupon that said "any" with no size exclusions, which allowed me to get the $1.50 trial size. It was in the 10/30 Smart Source.

The older Aveeno coupon, which expires 10/31, does have the exclusions you mentioned.

Aveeno Size

Thanks Amy, the ones I have are from the 10/30 N&O and expire on 12/31. I have a "Save $3 on any two" and "Save $1 on any one" Aveeno, but both say "(excludes trial and 2.5 oz sizes)" on them at the bottom next to the bar code. Did you get yours online or from a different paper? I'd love to do this deal because Aveeno is what I already use at home but I don't think I have the same coupons you do.

I went back to look at the

I went back to look at the Aveeno coupons again and saw the fine print near the barcode! (Pit in my stomach). I read the giant lettering "off any" and didn't look further. My mistake. And I am taking it off my deals list.

oops!

Oh well, thanks Amy. I was hoping it was my error instead of yours so I could get the deal. :)

Driscolls

Amy, did you ever get your coupon for Driscolls? I registered but received only a newsletter and no coupon.

Thanks,

Josie

Hi Josie.....I haven't

Hi Josie.....I haven't gotten anything from Driscoll's yet......I'm still hopeful but obviously not for this coupon go-round.

did you have coupons for the crisco oil?

Did you have coupons for the crisco oil?

I have not seen those.

thanks

There are $1/1 coupons for

There are $1/1 coupons for the Crisco in the Fall Savings coupon booklet from Lowes Foods. They are manufacturer's coupons.....so good anywhere. At my  LF store in Apex I spotted near the checkout stands and front door.

Even without the rain check, they're on sale this week for $2.99....so 99 cents after Q!
