If you have the often-difficult task of buying for a young teen or preteen girl, here's your chance to score some points with her.
I'm giving away a back-to-school prize pack of goodies from Five Below.
Here's what you'll get:
- a flower-patterned backpack
- a Chillin' with my Peeps T-shirt
- two bottles of nail polish, one purple crackled and one green
- a pair of green metalic Polaroid earbuds
- a Mead Five-Star 3-subject notebook
- and a 24-count pack of Crayola crayons
This stuff, which retails for $24.99, got the big thumbs up from my daughter, who is 13 and considers Five Below a very hip and cool place to shop.
If you're not acquainted with Five Below, it's a discount retailer that sells candy, games, arts and crafts, school supplies, gadgets, cosmetics, T-shirts, socks and other trendy fashion items that appeal to tweens and young teens.
Think zebra-print socks, Justin Bieber books, Laffy Taffy, and Dr Pepper T-shirts, among other things.
Nothing costs more than $5, hence the name.
I've found it to be a good place to go for those trendy "must-have" items that I suspect I may find forgotten in the dark recesses of my daughter's closet a month from now. Better for her to make a $3 or $4 mistake than a more costly error at a high-end shop at the mall.
To enter the giveaway, all you have to do is leave me a comment.
If you're a parent of young teens, tell me how you balance their desire to be cool with your need to balance the budget.
If you're a teenager, tell me where you like to shop and what you spend your own money on.
Enter by noon on Thursday. I'll choose a winner at random and announce it on the blog.
