It's the first Friday in December so let's celebrate with a nice list of freebies.
Firehouse Subs restaurants are giving away free 22-ounce mix-your-own sodas from their new Coca-Cola Freestyle soda machines.
The free 22-ounce DIY soda concoctions will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Firehouse Subs locations in the Triangle. No purchase is necessary. And no coupon is required. There are 120 flavors to choose from. Add as much -- or as little -- of each as you wish.

Here's a great freebie for those those nimble-fingered Lego fanatics in your family. The Lego store at Crabtree Valley Mall is hosting its monthly free mini model build on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
In celebration of the holidays, kids ages 6 to 14 will be building a miniature Nutcracker to take home. It's pretty remarkable looking and could easily double as a Christmas ornament. The build begins at 5 p.m. and continues while supplies last.
If you missed out on this freebie last time around, the offer for a free sample of Tom's of Maine toothpaste for kids is working again. Click here. This one showed up in my mailbox about a month after I ordered mine so it's definitely a legitimate offer.
Lowes Home Improvement and Home Depot stores are both holding their free workshops for kids this weekend.
At Home Depot, kids ages 5 to 12 will be building a snowman napkin holder from 9 to noon on Saturday. It's free, but you might want to call ahead to your closest Home Depot to reserve a spot. The kids also get a free apron, a commemorative pin and a certificate.
At Lowes Home Improvement, the make-and-take clinic, designed for kids in first through fifth grade, starts at 10 a.m. Saturday. Kids will be making a train caboose, the first in a series. Register online here. The first 50 children in attendance at will receive the caboose kit, an apron and goggles.
