Score FREE food through Harris Teeter Sub Club

Bookmark and Share

Friday nights are often date nights at our house but we often just get take out because, well, it's cheaper. (Not to mention you can eat in your pajamas, if you want.)

Among the take-out places we frequent is the deli at Harris Teeter, where we will pick up submarine sandwiches.

Not only is it cheaper than most places we could go, but it's one of our personal favorite ways to score free food through the grocery chain's "Sub Club," which rewards you with points for each sub sandwich you purchase.

For every 6-inch sub or wrap you buy, you earn 1 point. Buy a 12-inch sub and earn 2 points. Collect 15 points and get a free 12-inch sub.

Twelve-inch subs are regularly priced at $5.99. Every Friday, which is when we typically buy, the subs are $4.99. You earn the points regardless of whether the sandwiches are on sale.

It's also an effortless way to save. There are no punch cards or coupons to worry about losing.  Your VIC card keeps track of your purchases and lets you know on your receipt how many points you have and how many you need before you earn a free sub.

If you've ever bought a sub at Harris Teeter, you're a member of the Sub Club. Check your latest Harris Teeter receipt to see how many points you have accumulated.

At last check, we were more than three-quarters of the way to another free sandwich.

One last frugal thought: We each eat only half our 12-inch subs on Friday night. The other half is Saturday lunch.
