Attention Food Lion shoppers.

Here's a great way to shave a little extra off your weekly grocery bill.

Food Lion has teamed up with the digital coupon site SavingStar to offer digital discounts on several of its store-brand items.

Head over here to SavingStar to load these coupons onto your Food Lion loyalty card:

  • .75/1 My Essentials cereal
  • .50/1 My Essentials orange juice
  • .40/1 My Essentials frozen waffles
  • .50/1 My Essentials syrup (24 oz.)

The coupons may be used one time each. All of them expire May 31.

Not familiar with SavingStar?

Launched nationwide last May, SavingStar offers coupons that you link to your grocery and drugstore cards through its website. Click here to join.

SavingStar coupons differ from traditional coupons in two major ways: they're paperless and they are NOT automatically deducted from your grocery order.

Instead, the savings accrue in your SavingStar account. Once you've saved $5, you can have the cash deposited directly into your bank or PayPal account. Or you can choose an Amazon gift card or donate the money to charity.

In the Triangle, six stores are participating in SavingStar: CVS, Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Kroger, Lowes Foods and Rite Aid.
