Rex Healthcare is offering an online assessment of your heart health. It's free and it's confidential.
And, if you provide your mailing address, Rex will send you a $5 gift card to Applebee's. The gift card incentive runs through the end of February, while supplies last.
The HeartAware assessment program is available at uncrexheartaware.com.
If you participate, you'll be asked about your health history, family background and lifestyle habits. You'll then receive a personalized report on your risk factors for heart disease. Those with high risk factors will be offered a free follow-up screening with a clinician at Rex or UNC Hospitals.
The gift card is good at Triangle-area Applebee's restaurants. Applebee's, by the way, just introduced an under-550-calorie menu. Click here to check it out.

irony noted
Sat, 02/18/2012 - 21:37 — schaulI didn't notice before I took the assessment that the gift card would be for Applebee's, which I last visited nearly 10 years ago, and then because it was the last option en route to an airport. Frankly, I thought the assessment was rather shallow, as well. The experience doesn't give me a warm feeling about Rex which is supposed to have a strong cardiac facility.
Irony much?
Thu, 02/16/2012 - 12:10 — fbogusDoes anyone else get the irony of a medical facility promoting heart health by offering you a reward from a restaurant that specializes in serving oversized portions of over-salted, overly fatty, calorie bombs?
