As I mentioned last week, Bruegger's Bagels is celebrating its 30th birthday with a free bagel and cream cheese for customers next week.
The company is also sending its corporate chef, Philip Smith, on a tour of Bruegger's bakeries around the country to talk about about what goes on behind the scenes in the company test kitchen in Burlington, Vt.
On a stop today in Raleigh, Smith offered up a few suggestions on what to do with leftover bagels -- a great way to avoid wasting food and money.
Besides freezing bagels, Smith recommended using them as the main ingredient in breakfast casseroles, stuffings and bread puddings.

After our time in the kitchen, Bruegger's gave me some "bagel bucks," which I'm passing along to you folks in the form of a giveaway.
Here are the details of the giveaway:
I've got $10 in "bagel bucks" to give away to one lucky reader.
