Best school supply deals of the week (July 17-23)

Bookmark and Share

Do your homework before heading out to buy school supplies.

The big sales have begun, but similar to last week, there's lots of fine print to read.

Some of the deals, such as those at Office Max this week, require a minimum $5 purchase. Some involve rebates. Most of the good deals also have limits and are only good while supplies last. So beware.

Here are the best deals I saw:

At Office Depot:

10 cents will buy: 2-pocket folders.

25 cents will buy: rulers, notebook filler paper, 10-packs of pens and 24-packs of Crayola Crayons. All limit 5.

50 cents will buy: Sharpie permanent markers in your choice of colors.

$1 will buy: a ream of computer paper after mail-in rebate.

At Staples:

50 cents will buy: boxes of paper clips, 5-tab dividers, rulers, hole punches, 2-pack of mini composition books, pencil boxes, 3-pack of magnetic clips, pencil sharpeners or clipboards. Limit 2 while supplies last.

50 cents will also buy a package of photo paper after Easy Rebate.

A 5-pack of Bic highlighters is FREE after Easy Rebate.

At Office Max:

There's a penny deal on notebook paper but it has a $5 minimum purchase requirement so I would pass on that one.

The best deal here is a $1 pack of computer paper after MaxPerks Bonus Rewards.

At WalMart:

Paper folders: 15 cents.

One-subject notebooks: 20 cents.

Cra-Z-Art Crayons (24 count): 25 cents.

Composition books: 40 cents.

Notebook filler paper: 75 cents.

One-inch binder: 92 cents.

Crayola colored pencils (12 count) or markers (10 count): 97 cents.

At Walgreens:

2-pocket folders and mini highlighters: 9 cents each. Limit 4.

10-pack pencils, 5-pack Paper Mate mechanical pencils: 19 cents.

1-subject notebooks, 24-pack crayons: 39 cents.

Poly binders, school glue, single jumbo glue stick, 3-pack glue sticks, 10-pack sheet protectors, 5-pack tab dividers: 49 cents.

At Target:

Bonus-size Scotch Magic Tape: 50 cents - .50/1 Target printable coupon = FREE.

Mead poly folders: 50 cents.

Sharpie Accent highlighters (2 count): 50 cents.

Bic pens (10 count): 50 cents.

Rose Art glue sticks (6 count): 80 cents.

At Kroger:

Crayola crayons (24 count): 25 cents. Limit 12.
