Coupon clippers take note: A coupon club is in the works for Wake County. No experience necessary but scissors required.
The Southeast Regional Library in Garner has announced plans to launch a monthly savings club and coupon swap. Members will swap coupons, of course, but also share info on coupon sorting and filing, shopping strategies and other money-saving ideas.
The library, which is located at 908 Seventh Ave., will begin by hosting a series of three organizational meetings this month, starting with one at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12.
The other two swaps are planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, and 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17.
These first three sessions will be used to guage interest in the club and determine the best time to meet on a monthly bassis, according to librarian Amy Funderburk, who calls herself a "wanna-be couponer."
Funderburk said an experienced coupon-clipper will start off the first meeting with a presentation on filing and organizational techniques. Afterward, folks can share their own coupon strategies. Funderburk said she also wants to get input from particpants on topics for future meet-ups.
"The meeting will conclude with plenty of time to swap those coupons so be sure to bring your coupons and your scissors," Funderburk said.
