Today's giveaway might be worth calling in an emergency

It didn't last very long, but we know there are some fans of NBC's series "Trauma."

So we're offering Season One, also known as the complete series, I suppose.

The show was about first responder paramedics in San Francisco who had to help in the most extreme conditions, like helicopter crashes or explosions. The executive producer was Peter Berg, who is also responsible for bringing us the sublime and perpetually overlooked "Friday Night Lights." This show has a different feel, but there were some good storylines.

And it's free!

You'll get 12 hours of viewing and special features: pilot commentary with executive producers and deleted scenes.

Why not be a first responder and send an email by 9 tonight (12/21) and put your address in the body so we can get it right out to you.

Canceled: "Trauma" and "Mercy"

With the blood of "Law & Order" still on their hands, NBC execs also canceled medical shows "Trauma" and "Mercy" today.

Frankly, I don't think the mediocre "Mercy" should exist in a world without "Law & Order," so I'm good with that one. But the "Trauma" cancellation hurts. I liked that show a lot, and not just because of my undying love for Rabbit (left). NBC actually canceled this show last year and then un-canceled it for a short season. Ratings weren't great, so I am not at all surprised it didn't last long after this second mini-run. The best I can hope for now is that Cliff Curtis (aka Rabbit) gets his own show, preferably on another network.

If you like numbers: "Mercy" was getting about 1.4 million viewers, "Trauma" a little over 2 million, and "Law & Order" averaged around 7.3 million this season.

What to Watch on Monday: Complications on "Nurse Jackie"

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - Chuck and Sarah encounter Spanish spies on a train in Europe and  must derail the spies' agenda without any backup. Still, Casey and Morgan (I am loving this duo!) try to help them.

House (8pm, Fox) - House is still testing Wilson's relationship with his ex-wife Sam (Cynthia Watros).

Trauma (9pm, NBC) - Dispatch errors send medics to the wrong locations and Nancy considers the future of her relationship with Rabbit. Rabbit! Also, Marisa's reunion with a friend from the Army goes badly (again) and Boone plans a birthday party for Tyler.

Nurse Jackie (10pm, Showtime) - Inexplicably, Jackie is back together with Eddie -- not that it keeps Eddie from hanging out with Kevin. Cooper becomes "The Face of All Saints" for a citywide ad campaign, and O'Hara's former lover (Julia Ormond) comes to town.

What to Watch on Monday: A sitcom debut and the "Damages" finale

Earth Days (9pm, UNC-TV) - A documentary tracking the modern environmental movement, beginning with the first Earth Day in 1970. Among the featured are biologist Paul Ehrlich ("Population Bomb") and former Interior Secretary Stewart Udall.

Trauma (9pm, NBC) - No one appreciates (or watches) this show, but I really like it. Tonight, Tyler's father comes to town for a visit and Glenn mines the crew for stories as he does research for his book. More Rabbit!!!

Romantically Challenged (9:30pm, ABC) - Following "Dancing with the Stars" (which is only 90 minutes tonight) is the debut of this new sitcom starring Alyssa Milano (right) as a lawyer and mother who struggles with the dating scene after the end of a 15-year marriage. If you can buy the premise that Alyssa Milano struggles with dating, then you're obviously a science fiction fan and probably not that into sitcoms anyway. Update: ABC has suddenly changed their game plan tonight and are not airing the first episode (which critics saw and pretty much hated). Instead, they are opening with a later episode. Not a good sign!

Damages (10pm, FX) - In a 90-minute season (please, just season, not series!) finale, we see how all that crazy mess involving the Tobins has really gone down. Who was beating on Tom in that seedy apartment? Why did he jump off that bridge? Will Leonard/Lester really turn on the Tobins? Why is Patty being haunted by a horse? This is going to be a good one. Things don't look great for the renewal of this fine show, so tonight could be our last frenetic dance with Patty Hewes...

What to Watch on Monday: Casey goes rogue and Frobisher returns

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - Is Casey (Adam Baldwin at right) going rogue? After he performs a side mission for his old boss, he lands in prison for treason and Chuck and Sarah try to break him out. "Chuck" has been all about the surprises so far this season, but a surprise I can not get behind is removing Casey from the equation.

20/20 Inside the Bachelor: Stories Behind the Rose (8pm, ABC) -  This venerable news show takes a hard, investigative look at the inner workings of the popular reality shows "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette." Oh, who are we kidding. It's an inside job so expect nice, fluffy interviews with folks like Melissa Rycroft, Dr. Travis Stork, and Ryan & Trista.

Trauma (9pm, NBC) - Suspended Rabbit begins his mandatory therapy sessions just as things heat up between him and Nancy. Also, Glenn loses a patient during a routine procedure and a patient flees from Boone and Tyler's rig. NBC isn't promoting this show at all and the ratings are in the toilet. So when it gets canceled this time, it will stay canceled. I still like it.

Law & Order (10pm, NBC) - Cutter takes on his mentor (Amy Madigan) when she tries to overturn the conviction of a man found guilty of a hate crime, and a secret from Cutter's past may have an impact on the case. Anna Chlumsky also guest stars. The story appears to be based on the real-life Northwestern University Medill Innocence Project case.

Damages (10pm, FX) - Forget the Tobins -- Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson, left) is back to launch his new foundation.

"Trauma" -- and Rabbit! -- return tonight

I don't know how I forgot to add this to What to Watch, but NBC's nearly-canceled "Trauma" returns tonight at 9pm.

NBC actually canceled the show and then denied they canceled it and brought it back. I think that's the way it happened. It's a great show and definitely worth watching. (I personally think they should have renamed the show "Rabbit" and centered on that character, played by Cliff Curtis at left, but they didn't ask me.)

In tonight's episode, a construction worker is trapped underground after stumbling into a manhole, and Nancy's phobia hinders his treatment. Elsewhere, Rabbit and Marisa care for victims of a bank robbery, and Boone (Derek Luke) makes a critical decision in his new position that threatens a coworker's career.

"Trauma" airs at 9pm on NBC. Watch it!

Uncanceled: NBC's "Trauma" revived

Deadline Hollywood is reporting that NBC is reversing its earlier decision not to renew the freshman medical series "Trauma."

The site says sources at NBC have told them that NBC is not only producing all 13 episodes from their original order, but that they plan to order more.

So far, there has been no confirmation from NBC.

A recent increase in ratings was cited as the reason for the network's reversal. There's some interesting speculation on that ratings theory here at TVByTheNumbers

What to Watch on Monday: Too late to right a "Trauma" wrong?

How I Met Your Mother (8pm, CBS) - Overly confident in his role as Robin's boyfriend, Barney starts giving relationship advice to Marshall, which ends in disaster.

Trauma (9pm, NBC) - A show so much better than its sister show "Mercy," "Trauma" was unfairly canceled last week by NBC, a network which seems to be giving up on dramas. (Maybe "Trauma" can move to cable like NBC's inexplicably canceled "Southland.") While "Trauma" isn't perfect, there's something great here every single week -- at least one moment in each show that stops you dead in your tracks. What will it be tonight? Nancy and Glenn (right) discover what it's like to be on the receiving end of emergency help, while Rabbit gets a big surprise on the job.

For the Love of Ray J 2 (9pm, VH1) - Hip hop singer Ray J gets a second season to try to find true love. Apparently the contestant he impregnated during the first season wasn't "the one."

Big Bang Theory (9:30pm, CBS) - Sheldon tries to teach Leonard the fundamentals of football, and Raj and Howard have a kite fight.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - A dead rock star is discovered staged in a scene from her own music video, and lyrics from one of her songs finally breaks the case open.

BET's "First In": A heroic effort

NBC's "Trauma" offers a fictional take on first responders.

Tonight at 10, BET debuts "First In," a reality series that follows the lives of firefighters and paramedics in Compton.

The half-hour, 10-episode series is narrated and produced by Tyrese Gibson, the singer/actor/model; he's probably best known now for "Transformers."

"Trauma" starts with a lot of drama

If you're looking for something ground-breaking in "Trauma" you won't find it. It's pretty much in the mold of that other dearly departed NBC medical drama "ER."

But that's not a bad thing. After all, "ER" ran for 15 years.
