If you have to dash out on Christmas Day for a last-minute ingredient or gift, here's a rundown of what's open and what's not:

Grocery stores:

Aldi: Closed Christmas Day.

Food Lion: Stores close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve. Closed Christmas Day.

Harris Teeter: Stores close at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve. Closed Christmas Day. Stores will open at 8 a.m. Dec. 26.

Lowes Foods: Stores close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve. Closed Christmas Day.

Drugstores:

CVS: Open Christmas Day. Pharmacy hours vary.

Rite Aid: Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Christmas Day. Pharmacy open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Walgreens: Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christmas Day except 24-hour stores, which are always open. Pharmacies open in 24-hour stores.

Be sure to make your holiday grocery list early and check it twice because come Christmas Eve, the supermarkets will be closing and they won't reopen until Dec. 26.

Only the drugstores, along with some gas stations, will be open Christmas Day for those forgotten ingredients or gifts.

Food Lion, Kroger and Lowes Foods all close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Harris Teeter stores will be open one hour later until 7 p.m.

After that, you'll have to head to the drugstores.

It's beginning to look like you won't need to get up early for Black Friday sales this year. You'll simply have to stay up late to cash in on deals during the first official day of the holiday shopping season.

Macy's announced Monday it will open its doors at midnight Black Friday, the first time ever for the retailer. And now Kohl's has joined in and will also open at midnight.
