Sausagefest at Piedmont

Here's a little Oktoberfest with a Mediterranean twist: Piedmont restaurant in Durham is celebrating the month as Sausagefest 2009, with a menu of housemade sausages (spicy Italian, cotecchino, boudin blanc and smoked duck sausage, to name a few) which will be offered all month long.

Festivities will kick off tomorrow night (October 2) with a DJ dance party around 10:30. The next morning, Piedmont will be offering free sausage samples at the Durham Farmers' Market from 10am onward. If you miss that one, you can catch the next sausage tasting the following Saturday (October 10) at Wine Authorities.

Festivities will wind down with a beer dinner at the restaurant on October 28, which will pair Piedmont's sausages with the brews of Highland Brewing Company

Owners Drew Brown and Andy Magowan are cooking up still more Sausagefest ideas. Check the restaurant's Web site throughout the month to see what they come up with.
