Enloe threatened the national record for rushes in a game on Friday night in its 28-21 football win over Knightdale.
After watching the tape on Monday morning, Enloe coach Ron Clark verified the Eagles rushed 79 times.
There is no N.C. High School Athletic Association record, but the national record is 85 rushes by Stronghurt Southern, Ill. in 1979. Polo, Ill., had 79 rushes in a game in 1984 so Enloe's total is tied for No. 2 all-time in the country.
Clark plans to submit the 79 rushes to the NCHSAA as a potential state record.
