Ten UNC-CH researchers to be honored
Submitted by eferreri on 11/10/2008 - 10:00Ten postdoctoral scholars at UNC Chapel Hill will be honored Wednesday. Each will receive $1,000 to assist them in their research.
The event's keynote speaker will be UNC Chemist Joe DeSimone.
The honorees are: Alexey Savelyev, a postdoctoral research associate in the chemistry department; Ajit Joglekar, a biology researcher; Molly DeMarco, from the Sheps Center for Health Services Research; Naomi Spence, a researcher at the Carolina Population Center; Paul G. Hoertz, Jr., who works in the chemistry lab run by professor Thomas Meyer.
Also: Xiaoyang Hua, who has a joint appointment in the department of medicine and the center for environmental medicine, asthma and lung biology; Javier Concepcion, a research associate in the chemistry department; Shuangye Yin, in the department of biochemistry and biophysics; Guohua Cao, in physics and astronomy; and Jill Weimer, a research associate in the Neuroscience Research Center.
