Be on the look out for wine tags and beer rebates

To my fellow couponers: A big heads up on some extra savings.

When you're out and about grocery shopping this week, be on the look out for what has become increasingly rare: wine tags and beer rebates.

While prepping for Super Doubles at Lowes Foods and Harris Teeter, I spotted several.

A giveaway for coupon and rebate lovers

I've been lucky enough to score several new mail-in rebates and coupons lately so I thought I would share the wealth.

Leave me a comment or question about couponing and consider yourself entered to win an envelope jammed full of my latest and greatest finds.

There are restaurant freebies, hard-to-find mail-in rebates sponsored by the beer companies and other assorted coupons I've managed to collect. (The beer company rebates, by the way, do NOT require a beer purchase.)

I'll pick one winner at random on Friday afternoon and announce it on the blog Saturday morning.

Among the coupons and rebates I'm giving away:

More efficiency rebates available for home appliances

State officials for the third time in the past two years are offering financial incentives for purchases of energy-efficient home appliances.

The N.C. Department of Commerce is offering up to $300 for qualifying appliances bought this year, retroactive to Jan. 1. The incentives will be offered as federal stimulus money is freed up from other programs until the cash runs out.

State officials are intent on using as much of the federal funds as possible so as not to have to return unused grants. The money comes from the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and must be used by federally-set deadlines.

Rebate offered on Pam cooking spray

The folks who make the cooking spray Pam are offering you a chance to try their new and improved spray for free.

According to the Pam website, the company will refund the cost of your can of "new and improved formula" Pam (up to $4) if you aren't convinced it's "better than the bargain brand."

Click here to go to the website and download your rebate form.

You must mail the form along with a cash register receipt showing you made your  purchase between Oct. 1, 2011 and April 27, 2012.

If you prefer Pam over the off-brand, I recommend mailing in your rebate form with a hand-written note complimenting the product but telling them you'd still like to participate in the rebate.

I've done this numerous times before and always received my rebates.

Appliance rebates redux

As much as $400,000 in appliance rebates could go unclaimed and become available to people on a waiting list in the N.C. Energy Office promotion of Energy Star-rated appliances.

The state was distributing $1.3 million in rebates at the beginning of this month, courtesy of the federal stimulus.

Residents reserved all the rebate money within four days online or over the phone, but three weeks later, about 24 percent of those who reserved rebates have not submitted the required paperwork to receive the money.

Energy Office spokesman Seth Effron means that some have forgotten, some have lost their documentation and some may have mailed the materials too recently to be logged.

Rebates going fast

Two-thirds of the rebate money available for energy-efficient appliances has been claimed since yesterday morning.

The State Energy Office says that as of 5 p.m., 66 percent of the money -- about $850,000 -- has been claimed by residents seeking to save on Energy Star-rated central AC units, clothes washers, dishwashers, freezes, natural gas furnaces, water heaters and other items.

The offer began Tuesday and will last until the money runs out. Rebates range from $75 to $300, depending on appliance or equipment. Qualifying purchases must be reserved online or by calling 1-877-379-7323. Purchases made before Tuesday will not count.
