A South Carolina consumer packaging company announced today it will expand its facility in Haywood County and add 35 jobs over the next three years.

Sonoco Plastics will spend $11.7 million expanding its packaging facility in Waynesville, about 275 miles west of Raleigh.

The company currently employs 331 people at facilities in Alamance, Caldwell, Catawba, Craven, Rutherford and Haywood counties.

Sonoco received a $140,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund for the expansion.
