Track and field meets highlight area's young talent

 

Triangle track and field fans might just see some young stars of the future over the next 10 days.
 
Local-level Hershey's Track and Field Games meets are nearly completed throughout the region, and the top finishers advance to district competition in hopes of reaching the state meet and even the national championships.

Ten cheer and dance teams advance to Pop Warner regionals

Nine cheerleading teams and one dance team from the Consolidated Football Federation will have a busy day after Thanksgiving.

The teams have advanced to compete in Friday's Pop Warner Mid-South Region Championships at The Pointe in Fort Mill, S.C., CFF cheer coordinator Julie Sandford said.

Volunteers needed for national girls softball tournament

If you know girls fastpitch softball - or even if you don't - your help is needed when a big tournament arrives in Raleigh this month.

Volunteers are needed for scorekeeping and team check-in July 26 through Aug. 1 when the 18-and-Under ASA Girls Fast-Pitch Softball Southern National Championships are played at Raleigh's Walnut Creek Softball Complex at 1201 Sunnybrook Road.

Bouncing Bulldogs will try for 7th national jump-rope title in row

The Bouncing Bulldogs have done it again.

The internationally known rope-skipping team from the Triangle is
heading back to the USA Jump Rope National Championships to try to win
their seventh consecutive national championship.

Forty Bulldogs in 15 events qualified for nationals during a USA Jump
Rope Region 2 qualifying tournament against other teams from the
Carolinas on Saturday at Green Hope High School in Cary.
