Youth football coaches can learn from high school coaches at clinic Saturday

Youth football coaches get a chance to learn from high school coaches this weekend.

The CB Custom Homes Johnston County Football Coaches Clinic will be
held 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Smithfield Recreation
and Aquatics Center.

Speakers will include Tuscola coach Donnie Kiefer, South Johnston coach
Joe Salas, Athens Drive coach Jeff Smouse, Wake Forest-Rolesville coach
Reggie Lucas and East Duplin coach Brian Aldridge.

Wake County middle school baseball league gives players experience

Most high school athletes don't take up their sports when they reach
ninth grade. Instead, they gain skills and experience while they're in
lower grades by participating in recreational and club sports leagues.

In Wake County, hundreds of middle school-age athletes gain experience
in baseball through the Wake County Club Baseball League.

League play is open to students in grades 6-8 who attend participating middle schools in Wake County.
