"Mad Men" premiere: New season, new vibe

The fourth season of "Mad Men" is almost here, and the Sunday night premiere has the Banana Republic-wearing, avatar-creating fans of the AMC drama swooning with anticipation.

But those fans should brace themselves for big changes.

It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who saw the Season 3 finale that Season 4 would bring significant changes for nearly everyone in the cast. The last we saw, Betty (January Jones) was on a plane to Reno with her new boyfriend Henry, and Don (Jon Hamm) had just conspired to break away from the British-owned Sterling Cooper firm (along with Roger, Bert, Pete, Peggy, Joan, Harry and Lane) to form a new firm, Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce.

So those changes (new offices, new homes) shouldn't come as a surprise. And yet, they do. . . .

"Mad Men" actress on cover of Playboy

Crista Flangan, who plays Lois on AMC's "Mad Men," will appear on the cover of the August edition of Playboy magazine in a 1960s-homage to the show.

According to a press release, Flanagan will also appear in two cover variations that recreate iconic covers from the 1960s: a November 1960 cover by Toni Lacey and an April 1969 cover by Sharon Kristie. That's in addition to Flanagan's 8-page nude pictorial.

AT&T U-Verse customers could lose AMC and "Mad Men" this week

AT&T U-Verse is in the middle of a dispute that could cost its customers the July 25 season premiere of AMC's hit drama "Mad Men."

U-Verse is threatening to drop Rainbow Media channels AMC, IFC and WE this Wednesday, July 14, after a two week extension on the expiration of their original contract. U-Verse says Rainbow's channels are the least watched and most overpriced of their channels, but that they are still negotiating with the company.

Rainbow Media has started notifying its customers that the three channels could go dark this week on U-Verse. U-Verse has about 2.3 million customers.

"Mad Men" marathons coming

There's still time to get a crash course (or just a refresher course) in "Mad Men" before AMC premieres Season 4 on July 25.

AMC will have marathons from each of the three previous seasons of "Mad Men" starting tonight.

What to Watch on Monday: Bristol Palin makes acting debut

The Bachelorette (8pm, ABC) - Ali falls hard for Frank, but it looks like he breaks her heart. Four guys win roses for hometown dates. At the end of this episode, last year's bachelor Jake Pavelka and his ex-fiance Vienna sit down with Chris Harrison to discuss their breakup.

Mad Men (8pm, AMC) - A mini-marathon of the most popular episodes from Season 1.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager (8pm, ABC Family) - Amy runs into Bristol Palin in her dorm room (hey, who hasn't?) and realizes the music program is for teen moms. Palin told E! online that she felt obligated to take this role: "I feel obligated [to speak out] because I've lived through this experience ... the more I talk about it and the more I can be hands on about it, the better I feel about myself." Here's a sneak peek of her skills. Meanwhile, Ruben is not happy about Adrian's choice regarding her pregnancy.

Huge (9pm, ABC Family) - Will struggles to compose a letter to her family and develops a crush on a fellow camper.

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations (10pm, Travel) - In the seventh season premiere, Bourdain visits the Grenadine Islands where he fishes, dives, and tries to hunt a local delicacy.

New! An updated "Mad Men" avatar program

This was a lot of fun last year, so AMC updated their popular avatar program with even more "looks" to choose from. Not to mention some toe-tapping, snappy music to keep you happy while you create yourself.

The new season of "Mad Men" starts Sunday, July 25, at 10pm.

AMC airs new drama "Rubicon" after "Breaking Bad" finale

According to several published reports, AMC is giving us a sneak peek at their new drama "Rubicon" tonight after the "Breaking Bad" Season 3 finale. All you really need to know about "Rubicon" is that it comes from the same network that brings you "Breaking Bad" and "Mad Men," arguably the two best dramas on television.

"Rubicon" stars James Badge Dale, "Leckie" from HBO's "The Pacific" (who looks to me like he could play a young Bill Clinton). Dale plays a think-tank analyst who uncovers a conspiracy involving big government and big business. It also stars Miranda Richardson from "Harry Potter" and Peter Gerety, who has been in everything from "Homicide: Life on the Streets" and "The Wire" to "Brothers & Sisters."

January Jones car crash: Drunk and arguing with Bobby Flay?

TV Guide reports that January Jones, who plays Betty Draper on AMC's "Mad Men," crashed her car into three parked cars while being followed by photographers last night in Los Angeles.

Jones was unhurt, but left the scene briefly to escape reporters (she says) and to call 911, but then returned. She was not cited or arrested by police, and according to TV Guide, the police report did not indicate evidence of alcohol or drugs.

UPDATE: HollywoodScoop.com has witnesses to the accident who say Jones "smelled like a brewery" when she got out of her wrecked car. They also report that Food Network star Bobby Flay arrived at the scene right after the crash, argued with Jones and took away her ID before leaving. Apparently, Jones had been drinking with Flay at the London hotel earlier that evening. As for Jones' claims that she crashed because she was pursued by paparazzi, the lack of photographs of the accident scene seem to cast doubt on that.
