Pfizer continues to cut jobs as part of restructuring announced last fall

Drug maker Pfizer continues to cut jobs as part of an ongoing restructuring plan that began last fall after the company's acquisition of Wyeth.

This week, the company filed a notice with the state Department of Commerce saying it has laid off at least 50 workers at the company's Morrisville facility.

Rick Chambers, a company spokesman, said the cuts are part of the 170 researchers in Sanford and Morrisville that the company announced it would be laying off last fall as part of a larger streamlining of its research operations.

Those job cuts are expected to be completed by the end of the year, Chambers said.
