Defending lacrosse champion rebuilds

Chapel Hill, which won the N.C. High School Lacrosse Association state 4-A titles the past two seasons, returns five starters and eight lettermen, but has a new coach, Bob Cappelletti.

“We’re rebuilding,” Cappelletti said. ”We’re rebuilding with a new coach and a new system. That can be tough.”

Cappelletti is no newcomer. He has coached at Durham Jordan, East Chapel Hill and Cary.

Cappelletti has some talent to build with, including all-state midfielder John Haus, a Maryland recruit who is the son of former North Carolina coach John Haus.

Attackman Kevin Hornik has signed with Lynchburg College and 6-4, 210-pound defender Drew Stoltz has signed with Catawba.

The News & Observer's springs preseason preview will be published on March 1.
