Friday's NCHSAA East girls basketball sectional finals

Cary Christian relieves coach of duties before playoffs

Cary Christian has relieved its girls basketball coach of her duties, even as the team goes for a repeat of the 2-A NCISAA state championship this week in Asheville.
Coach Carmen Javaux, who led the Lady Knights to two straight NCISAA title games, was let go Monday — a day before Cary Christian opened this week's NCISAA playoffs. Javaux's record over the past four seasons was 102-20 (83.6%) with a 33-3 conference record.
