What to Watch on Saturday: Hallmark's 'Duke' tells of war vet's love for his dog

Duke (8pm, Hallmark Movie Channel) - An original movie in which a troubled veteran (Steven Weber) finds solace in the companionship of his dog, Duke, after leaving his family. But when the dog becomes ill, the man leaves Duke at the office of a compassionate veterinarian -- a move that changes his life in unexpected ways. Read Adrienne's review.

Tanked (9pm, Animal Planet) - The guys install a tank for a tattoo parlor in Las Vegas to soothe nervous customers, and later, a show piece tank for a furniture store in Jamestown, North Carolina.

The Firm (9pm, NBC) - In all the episode guides I can find online, this episode -- Chapter Fifteen -- is the final one listed. So this may be it, "Firm" fans. Tonight, Mitch and Ray make some risky decisions in their bid to expose Kevin Stack and the Noble insurance conspiracy. Meanwhile, Abby finds herself at the center of things as Stack and Alex Clark endeavor to evade justice.

Space Twister (9pm, Syfy) - In this movie, otherwordly storms wreak havoc on Earth and a high-school student's science project may be the key to saving the planet.

Flipped Off (10pm, A&E) - The premiere of a new series about real estate properties in the Houston area that are bought, renovated and sold for profit. These "flipping" shows were all the rage during the housing boom, but I really thought they'd all gone away. Apparently not. In tonight's debut, Russell Hantz and his brother Shawn struggle to make it through their first renovation project together.

Leprechaun's Revenge (9pm, Syfy) - An evil leprechaun (left) is unwittingly unleashed on a small town, where it goes on a violent rampage against the descendants of the settlers who stole the creature's gold. Pretty sure Syfy borrowed this leprechaun suit from one of their swamp monster movies.

The Firm (9pm, NBC) - In the final episode of "The Firm," Mitch represents a death-row inmate who wants to help the family he wronged. Also, developments in the Sarah Holt case unfold. Note: I was wrong about this being the last episode -- NBC has a few more to burn off before it goes away for good. Also, this episode was preempted by a repeat of "Fashion Star," so this didn't even air. Also, no one's watching anyway...

Too Cute (9pm, Animal Planet) - Last week's episode simply said "Kitten Dolls." Tonight's description is "Kitten Cottonballs." ???

Also ... NCAA basketball continues on CBS, TBS, TNT and truTV.

Also tars Katie McGrath and Sam Heughan. Adrienne has a review.

It's a Wonderful Life (8pm, NBC) - No holiday season is complete without at least one viewing of this wildly dark and yet wildly uplifting tale of a man who is faced with the failure of his family-owned bank, tries to commit suicide, and is shown the value of his life by a bumbling angel named Clarence. Stars Jimmy Stewart, Donna Reed, and Henry Travers.

Saturday Night Live (11:29pm, NBC) - Steve Buscemi ("Boardwalk Empire," "Fargo") hosts for the first time since 1998. Can't wait. Hopes are high. The musical guest is The Black Keys.

John Sandford's Certain Prey (9pm, USA) - Police chief Lucas Davenport (Mark Harmon) hunts down a mysterious hit woman while being pursued himself by a serial killer. Based on the novel by John Sandford.

Boardwalk Empire (9pm, HBO) - Margaret has a family reunion and Van Alden must come to terms with the hierarchy of the law.

The Walking Dead (9pm, AMC) - Shane's deadly sacrifice leads to some understandably strange behavior. I don't think you come back from something like that...

Hell on Wheels (10pm, AMC) - The pilot episode of a new series about a former Confederate soldier (Anson Mount) and his quest for revenge on the Union troops who killed his wife. In tonight's episode, the soldier heads west to take a job helping to build the first transcontinental railroad. It pains me to say I didn't care for it.
