Wednesday deals (June 13-19)

It's another nice week for deals at the major grocery stores in the Triangle with stock-up prices on eggs and milk at Harris Teeter; butter, cereal, cheese, croutons, ice cream and frozen veggies at Lowes Foods; and produce at Food Lion and Aldi.

My favorite deal of the week? Buy two packages of Borden's singles cheese for 90 cents each after coupons and then get rewarded with 20 cents off every gallon of gas you pump at a Lowes Foods or Wilco/Hess station, up to 25 gallons. That's a potential $5 additional savings!

Sunday deals are up (June 10-16)

As Father's Day approaches, many of this week's sales are focusing on products that make good gifts for dads. There are deals on gift cards (save up to 20 percent), men's shaving products and men's fragrances.

There are also great deals this week on Pepsi 12 packs, Heinz Ketchup, Lean Cuisine entrees and diapers and baby wipes.

But my favorite deal of the week has to be Kroger's sale on milk: just $2.69 per gallon.

Wednesday deals (June 6-12)

Get ready to pocket some significant savings at the supermarkets this week. It's a great week for stocking up with some very nice bargains on produce, meats, cereals, butter, frozen veggies, pasta and many more items. At Lowes Foods, you can score cereal and frozen vegetables absolutely free. And all the stores have ultra cheap deals for $1 or less.
I especially like the price on peaches this week. For the first time this season, they've dipped below $1 per pound at both Lowes Foods and Harris Teeter. And Aldi has a fantastic price on whole watermelon at just $2.99.
Also worth noting:
Lowes Foods has issued on new set of 3-week in-store coupons. Remember to stack them with manufacturer coupons to save even more.
Food Lion has a fantastic gift card promotion, saving you 20 percent on the cost of a $50 card.
And finally, check out the unadvertised specials I included in today's list. I've matched them up with coupons to come up with some extra great deals.

Free groceries to first 400 at new Carlie C's IGA

Carlie C's IGA will open a new store -- its first in Wake County -- on Wednesday morning -- with carts full of free groceries to its first customers.

The first 400 shoppers in the doors will receive 16 freebies, including a pound of Carlie C's sausage, margarine, shredded cheese, a 10-pound bag of ice and a six-pack of Deer Park water.

The 46,328-square-foot store is located at 1514 Garner Station Blvd. near the crossroads of U.S. 70 and U.S. 401, just a seven-minute drive from downtown Raleigh. It's in the space that was once occupied by Winn Dixie.

Sunday deals are up (June 3-9)

Coming off a holiday week, the deals aren't quite as plentiful. Even so, there are several stellar bargains, especially at Kroger.

Cherries are $2.99 per pound, Turkey Hill ice cream is $1.99 and All laundry detergent is $1.99. You can stock up on Kroger frozen veggies for $1 a bag, Dannon Oikos Greek yogurt for 80 cents and split chicken breasts for 99 cents per pound.

At the drugstores, Rite Aid has a terrific deal on Dove chocolates for just $1 a bag and nice deals on Dial hand soap and Stayfree pads. At CVS, there are stand-out deals on floss (27 cents) and mouth rinse (74 cents). And at Walgreens, you can pick up several freebies, including free hair accessories, free nutrition drink and free acid reducer. Walgreens also has a nice deal on toilet paper, gelatin and seasonings.

Free candy, free first aid gel and ultra cheap toothpaste and shaving cream are among the bargains you can score this week at Triangle drugstores.
There are also some nice grocery deals at Kroger, including milk for $1.49 per half-gallon, $1 frozen veggies and Turkey Hill ice cream for just $1.99 after coupon.
My favorite savings opportunity of the week: Consider taking advantage of Kroger's enhanced fuel rewards when you purchase gift cards. I purchase them for gifts or for my everyday expenditures at places like Home Depot and Target, then reap the rewards in cheaper gasoline. (See further details below.)

You can tell by the ads that summer is nearly here. There are deals on everything from allergy medicines to sunscreen and swim diapers.
Worth noting up front:

*And at Kroger, there are good deals on produce, Greek yogurt, Breyers ice cream, Kroger cheese slices and All laundry detergent. Kroger has also brought back its enhanced fuel rewards, rewarding you with cheaper gasoline when you buy gift cards.
