Wednesday grocery deals, Jan. 30-Feb. 5

With the Super Bowl coming up this Sunday, it's a great week to stock up on fan-favorite foods like chips, peanuts, popcorn, Chex Mix (free!) and frozen pizza.

And if you have chili or tacos on your Super Bowl menu, you're in luck because you'll also find nice deals on ground beef, taco seasonings, salsa and hot sauce.

But my favorite deal of the week is the 6-pack of Dove Men+Care soap at Harris Teeter. It's on sale for $3.99 this week and there's a coupon for $4/1, making it free. Even better, you may have received a Harris Teeter digital coupon for an additional $3.75 off one package, making it a huge moneymaker.

Keep reading for this week's top deals at Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods, Food Lion and Aldi -- with and without coupons.

TROSA closing East Durham grocery

Almost two years after its celebratory opening, TROSA's grocery store on Angier Avenue is going out of business. The Durham nonprofit made the announcement this afternoon.

According to a TROSA statement, the store's revenue has not been enough to cover costs, even with TROSA's own subsidy and private donations.

"The decision to close the store has not been an easy one, as the store has had a positive impact in the East Durham community and has become an important resource for community members," the statement read.

A date and other closing details have not been set.

The TROSA store is next to the popular Joe's Diner at Angier Avenue and Driver Street. Entrepreneur Joseph Bushfan bought and renovated three adjacent buildings in the hope of reviving the long-depressed business district around that corner.

Keeping baby happy: TV in the grocery cart

Proving that there is no place that an enterprising marketer won't shove a television, behold the VeggieTales grocery cart:
