The annual green home tour gets underway this weekend with 31 energy-efficient homes open to the public in the Triangle.
It's a good opportunity to see examples of how to cut energy use, hook up to solar energy and harvest rain water for irrigation.
Owners of the green homes are opening their doors two weekends in a row, from 12 noon to 6 p.m., in the fifth annual self-guided, free tour sponsored by the Triangle branch of the Home Builders Association.
Tour guides are available at several locations, including Whole Foods stores and the Weaver Street Market.
Home details are also posted online, accessible for each featured home from the addresses listed here.
