One more reason to use Google Voice

Google Voice is an awesome communication tool available to multiple computing platforms from mobile to desktop. Domestic calls are free. International calls are cheap. You can use its voicemail that even provides transcripts...well as best as voice recognition can.

Text messages have been free and now Google Voice for Android allows text messages to multiple recipients. Group texting! I haven't seen word of an update for iOS.

Frugal thoughts on the high price of cellphone texting

My colleague Matthew Fortner, also known as the N&O's Tech Junkie, has an interesting piece on his blog this morning that I thought frugal folks might be interested in.

Tech Junkie writes that the word on the web is that AT&T Wireless may drop its $10 text messaging plan, which would force folks into paying $20 per month for its unlimited texting plan.

Tech Junkie suggests consumers look into FREE options for texting, such as Google Voice, and start applying pressure on AT&T and other carriers to lower their texting rates or eliminate them all together.

I sure like the sound of that!

You can read the entire Tech Junkie piece here.

Google launches Voice web app

With a new mobile site at google.com/voice/m, most of the Google Voice functionality is now available to iPhone and Palm users. Call or text from the browser.
