Food Lion Double Coupons: Tell us your thoughts for a chance to win a $10 gift card

Once you've hit the aisles at Food Lion this week during its inaugural double-coupon event, we'd like to hear the highs and lows of your shopping trip.

How high was your total before coupons? And how low was it after coupons?

Were you impressed with Food Lion's first foray into double couponing? Or were you disappointed?

We would like to hear your thoughts, your gripes, your funny stories.

Leave a comment on this post and you'll be entered to win a $10 Food Lion gift card.

WalMart offers deal on Kindle Fire

WalMart is offering the Amazon Kindle Fire tablet this week with a gift card incentive that essentially shaves $50 off the price.

On the front page of today's WalMart circular, the full-color 7-inch tablet is advertised at the regular price of $199, but it's bundled with a $50 WalMart gift card.

One of the hottest gifts of the 2011 holiday season, the Kindle Fire still sells for $199 on Amazon.com and other major retailers.

I'm wondering just how many Kindle Fires each WalMart store will have in stock. If you're interested, I wouldn't procrastinate.

Daily deal alert: Movie tickets and a Subway gift card for $24

If holiday movie watching is on your agenda, you might be interested in this offer from the daily deal site Saveology.

For $24, you get two movie tickets through Fandango and a $10 gift card to Subway.

The movie tickets are worth up to $12 each. So basically, you're getting the Subway gift card free. Not a bad deal.

We have a winner...in the Starbucks gift card giveaway!

Thanks so much to all of you who entered my giveaway for a little holiday splurge in the form of a $10 Starbucks gift card.

I asked you to leave me comments on your favorite holiday splurges and your responses were so fun to read. Even we frugal folks have our guilty pleasures!

And, of course, I especially liked how some of you described obtaining your holiday splurges on the cheap.

Another free $10 Target gift card deal

Target has announced another free gift card offer, though it's not quite as generous as two earlier deals.

This time around, you must spend $75 to get a $10 gift card instead of the previous $50. On the plus side, this time there's no coupon required. The cashier will be automatically prompted to give you the card once your order reaches $75.

If you're interested, you must shop between 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, and noon Saturday, Dec. 17.

Give Chipotle gift cards and you get free food

Chipotle restaurants are offering customers an incentive to buy gift cards for the holidays -- free food on your next visit.

For every $30 you spend in Chipotle gift cards, you'll get a free burrito, burrito bowl, salad or order of tacos.

But whatever you do, keep your receipt! That's your ticket to your free food. You must present the receipt of your gift card purchase to eat free.

The deal is good through Dec. 31. And you have until Jan. 31 to get your free burrito.

Savings a 'triple play' at McDonald's

We don't eat out that often, but when we do, I like to maximize our savings. Usually, we do that by simply using a coupon.

But I wanted to tell you about our quick stop at McDonald's yesterday because it yielded what's known in coupon circles as a "triple play" of savings.

Holiday Help: Gift card deals that reward the giver

Restaurants looking to snatch at least a sliver of  your holiday budget are taking their sales pitches straight to your stomach.

Buy one of their gift cards and they'll give you a free meal on the spot.

So far, I've spotted these deals:

We have a winner...in the Harris Teeter gift card giveaway

I asked you to tell me how you did shopping at Harris Teeter this week during Super Doubles, and you came through with some great reports.

Some of you gave me your entire lists, telling me how much you saved down to the penny. Others posted new deals discovered in the aisles. One reader even posted a photo of her Super Doubles haul!

And a few readers lamented empty shelves, which, sad to say, is an occupational hazard of being a couponer.

I loved reading all the comments and appreciate your enthusiastic participation. But, of course, I only have one $10 gift card to give away.
