Deal Alert: Scan your CVS card for a FREE full-size package of cookies or crackers

CVS is on a freebies streak.

Last week, you got a FREE Mars candy bar when you scanned your loyalty card at the drugstore's coupon machine.

This week, a coupon for a FREE full-size package of cookies or crackers is printing out.

You get your choice of a 6 oz. package of Ritz Crackerfuls or a 10.5 oz. package of Newton Thins.

That's it. No other coupons required!

The CVS I stopped at in Cary this afternoon was well-stocked with both.

Lots of other bloggers across the country are posting the same deal so it looks like most everyone with a CVS card is getting the freebie.

Folgers promo: A Facebook failure

In my Friday freebies post this morning I mentioned the folks at Folgers coffee would be launching two new products on their Facebook page and would be "rewarding" fans.

I was hoping for the best but after so many Facebook promotional failures, I was suspicious. "Let's hope it's more substantial than a $1 coupon," I wrote.

Several hours late, my "reward" turned out to be - you guessed it - a $1 coupon for its Black Silk coffee. Others have reported getting a 35-cent coupon!

Sunday's new coupons = FREEBIES

Our coupon database is updated and ready to roll with Sunday's new coupons -- all 73 from the Smart Source insert, plus some extra coupons you'll find in a special Kroger insert.

At least two of the new coupons will put some freebies in your shopping cart.

Here's a list of the coupons I'm most excited about this week for their deal potential:

Two more freebies that won't wait for Friday

Here are two great freebies I came across this weekend via Twitter. Since these free samples typically go quickly, I didn't want to wait until next Friday to give you the scoop:

*Choose either a free sample of Kashi Cinnamon Harvest cereal or a free sample of a TLC Peanutty Dark Chocolate layered granola bar. Both sound good but in the end I picked the chocolate granola bar. Click here to choose your sample.

*The second offer is for a free sample of Kirkland Signature Supreme diapers. This sample is from Costco but you don't have to be a member to get it. Click here to sign up.

Cool off with a free mini Coke float at Maggie Moo's today

Along about the time it feels like 105 degrees today, the good folks at Maggie Moo's ice cream shops will be handing out free mini Coke floats.

A Facebook freebie apology

I don't know about you, but I haven't had much luck when it comes to the freebies offered by companies via their Facebook pages.

The freebies are often gone within minutes. Other times, the site is so overwhelmed, it's impossible to get signed up.

I've often wondered whether the goodwill that companies are trying to create through giveaways actually backfires with so many frustrated and disappointed fans.

Day 19: For the love of freebies

As a frugal family, we love our freebies. So you might imagine we've been taking full advantage of the free stuff that has come our way this month as we abstain from spending.

Here's a sampling of our good fortune in February:

Free 'Full Monty' tickets for unemployed men...

If you are unfamiliar with plot of the Broadway musical 'The Full Monty,' the story follows six unemployed men as they search for work.

The play will be in town this weekend as part of the North Carolina Theatre's 2010 Broadway season. The North Carolina Theatre has announced that, "an anonymous corporate sponsor has underwritten 100 tickets for the Saturday, February 27th performance at 8 PM and 100 tickets for the Sunday, February 28th performance at 2 PM for unemployed men in the Triangle."

We don't know who the mystery sponsor is, but we'd sure like to find out. In the meantime, if you're an unemployed man who would like to request tickets, the deadline is Thursday at 4 p.m., and you must fill out and submit the form HERE.
