That's because restaurants are lining up with Tax Day freebies and discounts to lessen the pain.

There's free cinnamon rolls, free Chinese food, free fries, free frozen yogurt, free coffee, deals on bagels and chicken and wine, half price sodas, and a discount on more Chinese food.

If you subscribe to The News & Observer and you haven't discovered the N&O ZONE, you've been missing out on some great opportunities for freebies and discounts.

This week, the ZONE is giving away free passes to the highly anticipated movie, "The Hunger Games." Twenty-five folks will receive one "Admit-Two" pass. The pass is good for Monday through Thursday showings at Mission Valley Cinemas or Six Forks Station Cinemas. Winners will be chosen at random on Friday, March 23.

Celebrate Leap Day with freebies and discounts

In honor of Leap Day, businesses are celebrating with freebies and discounts. Here in the Triangle, I've found three four Feb. 29-only deals. Please post any you've discovered, along with a link to all the details.

Looking forward to Saturday's coupon class!

If you're registered for my coupon class tomorrow, here are a few reminders:

Bring a donation of canned or dried food donation for the Food Bank
of Central and Eastern North Carolina. It will get you a second ticket in our drawing for door prizes, which, I must say, are pretty nice. Gift cards and movie passes are among the items up for grabs.

Bring your extra clipped coupons in an envelope. I'll answer questions and we'll swap coupons.

If you need any coupon organizer supplies, the folks from CouponOrganizerPro.com will be on hand, selling everything from fully loaded coupon binders to sets of extra pages. Cash and checks only.

Check your in-box for an email giving you all the details on parking, check in and breakfast.

Class will start promptly at 9. We've got a lot of ground to cover. See you then.
