Here's the UNC-Chapel Hill independent study data

We have a story today about UNC-Chapel Hill's ongoing review into the Department of African and Afro-American Studies, whose former chairman's teaching of football players has raised academic integrity questions.

The latest issue has been the number of enrollments of football players taking independent studies classes in the department. Attached is a PDF of the data the university gave us.The first column lists professors, the third is the semester the classes were taught (SS refers to Summer Semester), and the seventh refers to football and basketball players.

UNC's Holland amped for ACC addition of Pittsburgh

Senior Cam Holland may have been the happiest player on UNC’s football team to hear last Sunday that Pittsburgh will leave the Big East for the ACC.

Holland, a center and one of the top offensive linemen in the ACC, is a Pittsburgh native and would have played for the Panthers had it gone down to his No. 2 choice in recruiting.

Tudor: Bernard an SEC miss, UNC hit

There’s no longer much doubt that redshirt freshman Giovani Bernard is the present and likely future of North Carolina’s rushing attack.

That issue was settled on a single play in the Tar Heels’ 24-22 win last Saturday over Rutgers.

When the 5-foot-10, 205-pounder took a lead pitch from quarterback Bryn Renner and ran for a 60-yard touchdown on a short-side sweep,  Bernard’s status changed in a matter of about five seconds.

With the season starting the following week, the event will not be rescheduled.  Carolina opens its football season versus James Madison on Saturday, Sept. 3.
