Oxygen Biotherapeutics to raise $4.6 million

Oxygen Biotherapeutics plans to raise $4.6 million from an undisclosed institutional investor.

The Morrisville company expects to use the proceeds to continue work on dermatology and cosmetics products. Oxygen is developing and marketing various products that are designed to repair damaged tissue by increasing the delivery of oxygen to the site.

The company's line of Dermacyte skin products is designed to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Rolling Hills support comes with misgivings

Construction costs and financing for the city's contribution to the Rolling Hills/Southside Redevelopment are points of misgiving for some members of the project's local steering committee.

Concerns about a lack of money allocated for developing "human capital" in the depressed, crime-plagued area also came up during a conference call this morning among committee members, city staffers and developer McCormack Baron Salazar.

The call was in preparation for a special City Council work session Thursday on the Rolling Hills/Southside project, which covers an area of about 125 acres just south of the Durham Freeway near downtown.

Consonus Technologies attracts new financing

Consonus Technologies, a Cary company that scrapped plans for an IPO last year, has found another way to raise money.

The company secured additional financing from U.S. Bank. Consonus didn't disclose how much, but said that it is the second round of funding from the bank, which has provided more than $15 million since 2005.

The new money will be used to expand Consonus' data centers in Utah and elsewhere.
