Folgers promo: A Facebook failure

In my Friday freebies post this morning I mentioned the folks at Folgers coffee would be launching two new products on their Facebook page and would be "rewarding" fans.

I was hoping for the best but after so many Facebook promotional failures, I was suspicious. "Let's hope it's more substantial than a $1 coupon," I wrote.

Several hours late, my "reward" turned out to be - you guessed it - a $1 coupon for its Black Silk coffee. Others have reported getting a 35-cent coupon!

Triangle social media agency to Tweet and blog for Chrysler

A Cary-based social media shop has nabbed a huge client: The Chrysler Group.

The Chrysler contract will essentially double the operations of 4-year-old Ignite Social Media. The 35-employee company plans to hire 40-plus people at its offices in Detroit and in Raleigh in the coming weeks.

The Chrysler contract is effective Sept. 1 and will involve designing and executing a social media marketing strategy for the auto maker, said Ignite president Jim Tobin.

The positions being filled will work on Chrysler projects and for other recently signed clients, Tobin said. Openings in Raleigh include strategist, designer, copywriter, web developer and office manager.

Deal alert: $10 off $10 coupon at Pier 1 Imports - Expired

Here is one of those deals that's hard to pass up: $10 off a $10 purchase.

This one is for Pier 1 Imports, which I found on Twitter.

All you have to do is go to Pier 1's Facebook page here, click on the Daily Dealy link on the left-hand size, click the "Like" button and print.

I don't know about you, but I'll be heading over to Pier 1 after work to see what I can find.

I'll also be checking the Pier 1 Facebook page daily through the end of the month for new daily deals.

Facebook vs. Google+

Google+ has generated a lot of buzz. Some have anointed it the Facebook killer which is a far stretch, but Google+ does have some intriguing features and a refreshing interface.

Here is a handy infographic that shows you how the two stack up.

Harris Teeter using Facebook to promote unadvertised deals

Harris Teeter sent out a message via Twitter this morning alerting folks to unadvertised specials it has posted on its Facebook page.

These are in addition to the emailed e-vic specials the grocery chain sends out on Friday mornings to customers.
